Woman Killed in Single Car Accident Fire in Folsom

A woman was killed early Friday morning in a single car accident fire in Folsom near East Bidwell Street and Oak Avenue Parkway.

The exact cause of the fatal wreck is unknown, but a neighbor reported hearing a boom and seeing the car on its side. Authorities believe that speed was a cause in the wreck.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the one who is lost.

What can cause a single car fire accident?

Many times, a single car crash may appear to be the fault of the driver (i.e., speeding or looking distracted), but it may have actually been caused by something wrong with the car. There are several different things that can cause a dangerous car fire. Below are some ways in which a care fire can start:
• Flaw in the design of the vehicle
• Car wreck causing fluid or liquid spillage
• Electrical system failure
• Frayed or stray wires
• Fuel leaks
• Failure to maintain vehicle

Unfortunately, there are the cases where it’s impossible to prevent a car accident fire. However, by regularly maintaining your vehicle, it will help keep an eye on different things like frayed or stray wires that could ignite one.

Grieving Loved Ones after a Tragedy

These types of tragedies can happen quickly and unexpectedly. There are never words or actions that can prepare someone for the loss of someone close to them.

It is very easy in these situations for those grieving to lose sight of their own needs and responsibilities due to the grief—something the lost loved one would never have wanted to see. There is nothing wrong with seeking counseling or help to get through a difficult time or tragedy.

A Wrongful Death Claim May be Able to Help the Family

The initial investigation may show that the driver was negligent or unsafe. But a closer look may show something that caused the driver to act that way. The best personal injury attorneys are able to look into these types of situations to see if there was a faulty or negligent design. A car accident lawyer may be able to help the family in this regard by filing what is called a wrongful death action.

A wrongful death claim seeks monetary compensation against a negligent party for funeral expenses, medical expenses, loss of financial help, loss of companionship of the loved one and more.

Who can file a California wrongful death claim?

There are only certain people who are able to bring a wrongful death claim in California. Specifically, California law allows the deceased person’s surviving spouse, partner, or children. If there is no one in the line of descent, it may be brought by the parents, siblings, or anyone entitled to property by intestate succession.

Additionally, if financially dependent upon the accident victim, a suit may be brought by: the putative spouse and putative children, stepchildren, and parents.

We know the first thought after a tragic loss of a loved one isn’t “do I need a lawyer?” But many times there is more than just the physical loss of a loved one. While they may be gone, financial requirements will continue and their presence and help were expected for years to come. A seasoned wrongful death attorney can help in these situations.
